  Chapter 1

Visions flashed through Myles’s mind as she lay in her bed. For the last forty-five minutes she had tossed and turned waiting for sleep to overtake her, and yet, the peace she was counting on just wouldn’t come.

The day’s activities were heavy on her mind as she rolled onto her side.

Pack training had been extremely brutal this month. For fifteen hours straight, groups of two and three had repeatedly attacked her. When she thought that she wasn’t going to be able to move another muscle, her brother had helped them tackle her down. He was the only one that could match her power, and the blow from him had caused her legs to buckle. It was just enough for them to catch her off-guard and tie her up. The blindfold she hadn’t expected.

For four hours Myles went through the most violent interrogation she’d ever experienced in training. Her brother’s yelling was somehow ingrained in her brain. She could still hear him.

What are you going to do if they ever take you? What would you say? It’s imperative that we get your story straight until the point where you actually believe it. They’ll smell it if you lie. They’ll know, and then they’ll kill you!

What is your name? The back of her brother’s hand stung her cheek. She was so glad she wasn’t completely human or else that could have shattered her bones. As it was though, it was a minor pain to what she knew he could do.

  “My name is Patricia Sherman.”

The sound of his hand connecting with her face echoed off of the walls of the cabin. Myles felt blood fill her mouth and the beast inside of her growled angrily. On the outside, Myles tried to remain as if she hadn’t have been affected in the least.

“That’s a lie and you know it. Your name is Myles Amelia Baker, and you’re sister to the alpha of Dark Days Ranch.”

“My name is Patricia Sherman. I live at 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney.”

“Isn’t that from a fish cartoon? You know, the one where the baby fish gets taken,” a male voice whispered from across the room. If Myles’s ears hadn’t of been ringing, she’d have probably been able to identify the person.

Pain exploded across the back of her head as her brother pulled back her hair and clenched it into a fist.

“I swear, that’s where I live.” Myles pretended to sob. “If you don’t believe me you can call my mom. Her phone number is eight-six-seven-five-three-oh-nine.”

Laughter exploded in the cabin and Myles cringed as she expected to be hurt again. Instead the blindfold was ripped off and her brother had a big smile on his face.

“Did you actually come up with that all by yourself?”

Myles jumped at the stinging that engulfed her lip as she tried to smile. “Took
me a few days, but yeah, it’s the only information I trusted myself to never forget.”

  “Good girl.”

Her brother’s voice drifted off as Myles was overtaken by the sight of two men off in the distance. Her body tingled and she looked around at the darkness that surrounded her. Now this was a place she was all too familiar with. She knew sleep was close.

They came closer. Although one’s face was extremely clear, the other man’s features she couldn’t quite recognize. Did she know him? The fact that he had dark hair and an athletic build was pretty common. There were a few men in the pack that matched that description, but something about this guy she couldn’t quite put her finger on. He felt distant, like a stranger, and yet he gave off the impression of home.

Myles groaned and rolled onto her back. After all the physical exertion, she couldn’t understand why it was so hard to sleep. Her skin still prickled, and heat kept rolling through her body in waves. Over and over, the men invaded her thoughts. The one she recognized she’d seen at the bar for the last two weeks. But it went beyond that. He had been in her dreams now for at least two months, long before she’d ever laid eyes on him.

The sound of footsteps had Myles’s eyes flying open. She looked toward the door and noticed there was no light coming from underneath. If it were her brother, wouldn’t he have turned on one of the lights? Surely she was overreacting. All the training she had just gone through had her on edge. That was all.

Myles slowly set up in bed trying to be as quiet as possible. The creaking made her freeze. The footsteps suddenly stopped, and Myles could feel her heart hammering away in her chest.

Should she call out? She took a deep breath and stood. No. If this were indeed the enemy pack, calling out would be a death sentence.

Myles inched her way to the door. Silence. She couldn’t hear anything but the ticking of the clock on her wall. The darkness of the room felt like it was literally pressing against her skin. For what seemed like an eternity, she stood there waiting, and nothing. Just as she turned to go back to bed, her door flew open and what felt like a Mack truck crashed into her back. They fell onto the bed, and just for the hell of it, Myles reached up and pulled one of the curls that rested on his forehead.

“Ow, My! No pulling hair. If I would’ve been Samone—”

Myles used all of her strength in her legs and sent her brother flying across her room. From the sound of the crashing and breaking glass, she knew he had landed on her dresser. She was on top of him before he could even move.

“Come on, Jack! My room is a mess now.” She groaned. “If you would have been the enemy alpha, you would be dead right now because I would have snapped your neck before you took a single breath. Now get out of my room and let me sleep. It’s almost sunrise and I have to work tonight.”

“You knew I was coming. That’s not fair.”

“Jack, you do this every time.” Myles climbed back into bed and listened as her brother’s footsteps retreated. Just as he was about to shut the door, she cleared her throat. “You know you owe me a new dresser, right?”

He laughed and grabbed the handle of the door. “I know the routine. Everything will be cleaned up before you make it home from work.”

“Good. This time make it white. Not lime green or some other ridiculous color.” Myles covered up and closed her eyes. The sound of the door clicking made her feel extremely tired all of a sudden.

Visions played out in Myles’s mind, but she could hardly pay attention to the scene. Heaviness settled over her limbs and she suddenly felt as though she weighed three times as much as she did.

“Shhh. Just relax, Myles. We know how to make you feel good.”

Pressure wedged between her thighs, and she could feel herself separating her legs. Darkness began to overtake her, but Myles fought to pay attention to the two men that were caressing her body. The one she recognized was kissing her lower stomach and trailing down toward her pussy. She felt herself getting wet as his tongue traced down her slit.

A moan came from her mouth as his fingers spread her wider. The mystery man sucked her breast into his mouth. As much as Myles loved the sensations she was experiencing, she couldn’t help but try to figure out who he was. Why was he even in her dreams? She didn’t know him. Hell, she couldn’t even really see what he looked like.

  “Focus, Myles, you’re losing us.”

The man lifted his head and was clearly talking, but his voice was fading, quickly.

Myles fought to stay conscious but knew it was a losing battle. Sleep was coming hard and fast and there was no way she was going to be able to enjoy another minute with these two dream men.

“Until tomorrow…” The words were the last thing Myles heard as sleep took over. And she knew he was right. This was a nightly ritual, and one she couldn’t get enough of.

  Chapter 2

The bar stool spun slightly to the left as Logan glanced back at the loud laughter coming from the pool tables behind him. Country music filled the small bar, and yet, the sound of people having a good time could still be heard through the blaring tunes and vibrating bass.

For the last two weeks, he’d frequented this hole-in-the-wall, and all for the chance that he might get lucky and run into the sexy couple that had caught his eye the first night. True, they probably wouldn’t want to have anything to do with him, but he had to know for sure. Imagination or not, it sure looked like they had been interested.

The band started a new song. A mass of couples rushed onto the dance floor, each falling into step in perfect harmony with the beat. Groaning, Logan spun back around to face the bar. One more beer and he was out of here. It had to be close to midnight by now.

Work on the ranch would start in five hours, and being new, he couldn’t be late. He loved this job way too much to lose it. For two years he’d had his eye on Dark Days Ranch. The moment the opportunity came up, he jumped at it. The fact that he’d gotten in was a bit shocking though. It was one of those places where you had to know someone to get in. And he didn’t. Not a single person. But he tried not to think of it too much, and just decided to be glad for his good fortune.

Logan signaled to the bartender. The short, dark curls framing her face bounced as she looked up. If Logan had to guess, he’d say the hairstyle was more suited for a man than a woman, but she actually pulled it off really well. It was that, or the fact that regardless of her hair, her face and body were absolutely gorgeous. If he swung that way, she’d definitely be on his radar. It wasn’t that he didn’t like girls. It was just that he preferred men. Something about their tight bodies had always caused his heart to race. Not to mention, got him as hard as a rock. Females had never really had that effect. Well, besides the one behind the bar. She sure was doing something to him, and he couldn’t quite understand why.

  “Bud Light?”

“Yes, ma’am.” He smiled and glanced toward the door, but found his gaze coming back to her. Maybe if he tried to ignore the cute bartender it would go away. Or maybe not. His cock hardened at the sight of those curves.

Logan focused back on his agenda. The men. No one new had entered for the last twenty minutes. It wasn’t as if this small Texas town was crawling with residents. The population was maybe eight thousand, if that. Still, it would have been nice to feel that rush of adrenaline that came with new people walking in. Even if it wasn’t who he was waiting for.

The cold beer was set against the back part of his hand, pulling his attention from the entrance. Logan grabbed a ten out of his wallet.

“The name is Myles, not ma’am.” A blue-eyed wink followed as she took the cash and went to hand him the change. He quickly shook his head.

“You keep it.” Logan took a long drink, letting the coldness of the entire beer slide down his throat. He placed down the empty bottle and stood. Myles’s voice stopped him from turning to leave.

“They’re gone until tomorrow. They work two weeks on, one week off.”

  Confused, Logan just stared a
t her. Surely she had no idea who he’d been waiting for. How could she? It took a few seconds for him to gather his wits. “Who are we talking about?”

“Don’t play coy with me.” Her small fingers tucked a curl behind her ear. “I saw the way you looked at them.” She shrugged and glanced down. “Not that I blame you. Who doesn’t? They’re gods in this town, at least to all the women. Now, the men…” She looked around to make sure no one was paying attention, and lowered her voice. “I can’t say that too many of them notice Jack and David the way you do. I think it’s kind of hot actually.”

Logan sat back down, a smile coming to his face. He narrowed his eyes, slightly tilting his head. “Hot, huh?”

A red tint crept up Myles’s cheeks. The sight somehow gave him butterflies. He’d heard of girls blushing, but he’d never seen one. Something about it made his heart skip a beat.

She rested her forearms on the bar leaving only a few inches between their faces. For as bold as she was trying to be, the innocence was still evident. “Well, yeah. I think so. Men with men…Maybe I’m an exception, but I think it’s the sexiest thing ever.”

“Hmm.” Logan laughed and shook his head. “Honey, you are something else.”

“I don’t know about that. I’d say I’m a pretty run-of-the-mill girl. As for Jack and David though.” She looked down. Logan didn’t miss the way her full lips slightly twisted while she was thinking. With a sigh, she locked eyes with him. “I’m not so sure they’d really bring anyone in with them. They seem pretty content with each other.”
